Tennessee Flight Training announced a tuition partnership that will make flight training more affordable and allow aspiring pilots from all demographics to reach their aviation goals. In collaboration with Flight Training Finance, pilots-in-training can receive merit-based financing, which enables borrowers to take up to eight lessons for as little as $400 per month.

“Too many times we hear of students who have the drive, the grades and the focus needed to become a pilot, but finances become a barrier to their next career. This partnership allows students to come on board with little commitment while providing them the skills to advance to a high-paying job in a short amount of time,” said Chris Erlanson, President of Tennessee Flight Training.

The commercial aviation industry is facing an unprecedented pilot shortage due to many pilots reaching retirement age and a rebound in demand following the pandemic. Industry experts estimate a global shortfall of at least 34,000 commercial pilots by 2025 if current trends persist. Meanwhile, demand for commercial airline pilots is expected to increase significantly over the next 10 years, outpacing the average growth rate for most occupations.

In many cases, aspiring pilots can expect to go from no experience to qualifying for regional airlines in fewer than three years and at one-third of the cost of a typical college education.

“Flight Training Finance relieves the student pilot’s financial burden by making payments manageable without interfering with the student’s training to be an aviator. Flight Training Finance is excited to be partnered with Tennessee Flight Training to bring this program to aspiring aviation professionals,” said Mark Belanger, President of Flight Training Finance.

“Opening the door to high-demand careers like aviation requires a new approach to the way students pay for education and training. Our goal is to continue breaking down financial barriers and making aviation more affordable for all types of students, especially those who traditionally haven’t seen a viable path to the pilot’s seat,” Erlanson added.

Consistently recognized by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) for its high standard of accomplishment, Tennessee Flight Training offers a range of customized options – from recreational to career pilot training – at a pace that fits each student’s needs. An FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) can provide a personalized training path based on the student’s schedule.
